"I greatly enjoyed Sailor’s Valentine by Brenda Rahmann. As a short story, it packs so much emotion into just 44 pages.The author makes use of many literary devices, including foreshadowing, superstition, and symbolism. The mysticism aspect kept me enthralled from the opening paragraphs through to the end. In a short story, every word is deliberately chosen to carry the plot forward. As I read, I continually questioned how each of those words played into the storyline.
I highly recommend you read Sailor’s Valentine. It’s a minor investment of time and money for all the delight you get from a well-told Cape Cod story.
